Go Greek at Glorietta Food Court

It's weekdays once again and it is fast food / food court days. Contrary to the belief of some, I don't frequent fine dining restaurants most of my time, due to my limited lunchtime. In fact, I reeled by the dictum that says "fast-food on weekdays, fine dining on week ends."

The latest stop was a creative juice of Chef Rob Goco, same man behind Cyma and Charlie's Grinds & Grill fame. Although not essentially an authentic Greek cuisine but it has the basic components.

Located at the far end of the Glorietta food court, where there are lighted seats in cubicle form, it is one of the best conceptualized food stalls bustling in the food court proximity.

Go Greek serves Souvlaki(minced meat and vegetable grilled in skewer), Moussaka(Greek's version of lasagna which uses eggplants instead of noodles), and Gyro(Greek dish consisting meat, tomato onion, and tzatziki sauce served with Pita bread).

For my lunch, I grab myself their Lamb Gyro Platter(Php195) comprising green salad tossed according to my likeness, broiled potato, and roast lamb sprinkled with tomato, onion, and cucumber in small pieces served with Pita bread. I ordered an extra Greek rice(Php60).

The salad in itself was a good catch since it is served in front of me, akin to the Ristras where Burritos are assembled right up front. Fresh and flavorful, it has a sweet but tangy kick. My food were served with two sauces, one a thick brown sauce that has a weird sweet-sour taste more like a barbecue sauce with a drips of wine. The other, a usual white sauce served you can find in a Kebab restaurants.

Overall, it was a nice stall concept. However, it being just in a Glorietta food court, you might not find more menu choices, unless Chef Rob Goco decides to flourish it into a full-blown restaurant.

  2. this is a nice and affordable way for Filipinos to be more experimental with their cuisine choices :) i like the concept so that it's more reachable and less intimidating.

  3. when we ate there, I find the chicken and beeg gyro very dry. didn't attempt in going back anymore. If not only for the hummus.

  4. @Smarla: oh yeah, ristros the next. they have a branch at the fort, near joey pepperoni? or was that malcolm's place?

@kitten: really? i never tried their chicken, only a lamb since accordingly that was their specialty. one can never go wrong with a restaurant's specialty.

@bob: oo nga, lapit lang kase ng office, lalakarin lang to glorietta.

@cookiespink: i might try, but i really find a lemon or an orange in a chicken odd. but maybe that's just me.

  5. MB and I are big fans of their mixed meat gyro platter. MB wants to eat there almost every week. I don't. I find the food a bit hard to digest. I know it's light but my tummy always goes berserk whenever we eat there.

  6. @LadyE: maybe that means that you should've gotten a 1974 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon wine after that meal. :) or maybe a 1900 Ch. Lafite-Rothschild? :)

  7. Hi John
I was just at Cyma Eastwood last Monday! I ordered Watermelon lamb salad and it's simply delish! But Cyma Trinoma version is better though.

  8. @cafemobility: i don't like lemon chicken too (the one served in chinese restos) coz it tastes like medicine. but go greek's version is yummy. unlike the lemon chicken in chinese restos that's fried and with lemon sauce, this is grilled chicken in lemon& olive oil :) flavorful indeed!

  10. @Peach: sizzling steak is actually a safe choice, but at times i'm a bit experimental. :)

  11. Greek food offers something for everyone. It is also a very healthy cuisine, mostly because of the liberal amounts of olive oil in it. People in Greece, who eat a traditional Greek diet, have been known to live on average quite a bit longer than inhabitants of other countries. Greek food is tasty and good for your health and you won’t find a better combination than that.
If you are a Greek or one who wants to taste the delicious Greek food, try it from a Restaurant in white plains.

  13. @Greek Resto Owner: thanks and i will check out your place once i'm there.

@Rome: i'm more of a beef person than a lamb. i don't know yet any authentic greek resto in the metro, so this one is a breath of fresh air for me.
